About The Material These Picks Are Made From:

Wooden plectrums have been used traditionally throughout the world since the dawn of stringed instruments millennia ago. Hardwoods such as Maple, Padauk, and Teak have been particularly favored for their durability, beauty, and tonal qualities.

Maple is a dense, light colored, hardwood that is found almost exclusively in the northern hemisphere. Maple is considered one of the most important tone woods in the manufacture of many different types of instruments, but is especially prized for use in various stringed instruments such as guitars, violins, and cellos.

Padauk wood is native to Africa and parts of Asia and is valued for its toughness, stability in use, decorative beauty, and rich reddish color. Padauk is sometimes used to make xylophone, organ and marimba keys, as well as guitars.

Teak is a very dense and attractive hardwood found natively in south and southeast Asia, although it is now cultivated in warm climates around the world. It is especially prized for its durability and is widely used in circumstances where one desires a wood that is both tough and attractive.
