This was an impulse buy and I love it! I was waiting for something like this to come around. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone made one. It's so much fun and the sound is awesome. It's made very well. The app works perfectly. I feel like I'm cheating and wish I can learn the good-old-fashioned way, but I tried that and lost interest quick. It has an extensive song library filled with popular songs everyone knows and the best part is, you can play along with them and record yourself. You can even record your voice! It shows you the chords to strum while you're playing along, like words being highlighted in a karaoke song (it shows you the words too).
So much fun. I love it. You can literally hear your progress if you save your songs. Soon there will be a smart guitar, cello, violin, trumpet, sax...etc. This is our future in learning instruments.
The Banjolele arrived triple boxed and on time. Thanks Custom Amp Covers for the extra effort and expense.
The Finish is High Gloss. Absolutely Stunning...made of Solid Hardwood with a Redwood Satin Finish.
OUT OF THE BOX
You will find the Banjolele much heavier than the Uke. It is made of Solid Hardwood, not Laminated like the Uke. The Bridge came mounted. After some trial, I found a Happy Location just under center. This did take some time to adjust. I also inspected the tension on Head. It was close. I did readjust it with the supplied tool. I used a cascaded pattern and adjusted slightly above snug. Do not over tighten. It would of been OK without adjusting. But that's me, just can't leave anything alone.
The instrument comes with AQUILA strings. I find these to be nice sounding High Quality strings. You can expect a week before these strings settle down and hold a tune. My Banjolele is string GCEA, The same as my Uke. I can pick up either instrument without having to translate. Really nice for this 73 year old.
I can only put into one word......OUTSTANDING. You get a Banjo Twang with a mellow Uke sound. Exactly what I wanted.
The Banjolele does have a resonator and you will notice much more volume over a Uke..
For me this instrument is a keeper. Has everything I want. If you want more, I suggest spending 3X more dollars and buy a pro. model.. Happy Playing, Hope this helps......................Jim
At this price point this is a pretty darn great banjo uke. Bought it as a gift for my mom and she loves it. Comes with decent strings, has a better, fuller sound than other inexpensive banjoleles and is easy to setup and play. The tuner that it comes with is nothing special (but you get it as a gift), so just use a new tuner with higher ratings. The case is flimsy but does the trick, just doesn't provide the same protection as the hard case but this is obvious :) Overall I am happy with the purchase and giving 5 stars without hesitation.
