I'm not an expert, but I've played a while and I own a variety of saxophones. I currently own 2 baritones, 2 tenors, with this purchase 3 altos, 1 curved soprano and 2 Roland Aerophones.
I was looking for a less expensive alto to replace another one. I've tried multiple lower end saxophones (Glory, Mendini, Ammoon, etc.,) but I was really surprised by this horn. The first surprise was the weight. I expected it to be thin metal and almost weightless, that it actually feels significant. The tone straight out of the case sounds great; and that's with the mouthpiece it came with. As far as pitch, I've tried songs with heavy vibrato, I've done extreme bending, it response to runs between octaves well. I've ordered a Yamaha Alto Sax Mouthpiece 4C mouthpiece to pair with it so I'll see how that sounds when it arrives tomorrow. The key action definitely rivals some of the more expensive horns.
Let's be clear it's not a pro horn for $5.000 but it's not a super cheapie either. I'm pleased with the purchase and pleasantly surprised. So far, honestly i dare to say its the best low-cost horn I've tried during my experience as a saxophone player and would recommend to anyone without hesitation. Excellent purchase!
I bought this Alto Saxophone after seeing a favorable YouTube review. I was going to rent, but a year’s rental was more expensive than the cost of taking a punt and buying new.
Now the important part - I decided to wait a few weeks to review, as to check whether any difficulty in playing was due to my beginner embouchure or the saxophone. I am pleased to report that my embouchure has matured enough to say that this saxophone is an excellent buy, sounds, looks great, doesn’t feel flimsy, unlike a lot of cheaply made musical instruments, and according to my tuner it plays in tune. I played it alongside 2 long time saxophonists who assumed I’d been playing for years rather than 3 months because of the quality of its tone. My intention was to upgrade to a professional model after a year, but 6 months in the saxophone appears to be holding up - nothing has fallen off, still plays throughout the registers and still looks great. I consider myself as a lucky saxophonist having this instrument.
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another instrument from these guys as this is not my first purchase and the service and products are always excellent. As far as I am aware they are authorized dealers of some quality instruments in US and EU. Would recommend without hesitation!
Straight out of the box and what I see... it is the most beautiful sax I've ever held. It came ready to play with reeds and everything ... in fact I haven't seen anyone else selling a sax with that many accessories...
As for sound, so far so good. I am an older jazz saxophonist (a little picky!) and I find variation of the reed and mouthpiece necessary to test different sound qualities.
This is the third low-cost sax I've tried. A lot of the great sax players were dirt poor when they started, and these low cost instruments may be all the future musicians have initially. My first test was an Antigua student model rented for my son, then a Glory and the Mendini off Amazon. They all are manufactured from a similar/identical CAD design based on a high end Selmer Paris (built with lower quality materials).
The Red Bronze is the best of the three I've tried so far. The key springs were more stiff and the sound less bright than my higher end Antigua pro, but that may be due to the newness of sax. With a good mouthpiece and seasoned reed, has been really nice to play ... and it looks and feels great. I had a Bundy and Vito when I was a kid ... this is much nicer!
FYI, be cautious of reviews from new sax players playing with a new reed. Reeds need moisture and get better with use. They also need a well trained lip to really good sound. Luckily I don't see any bad reviews yet but I am sure this will happen at some point and this will be the case...
Thank you again for the beauty!
For its price, an excellent instrument with an appealing look especially for students. Just by looking at it, makes you want to practice. I bought one for myself and another one for a student of mine - both work great. They made me a deal with combined express shipping with DHL to my door.
My student decided to stick with the included reeds and dare to say they are almost as good as let say "Vandoren reeds". I bought a proper Yamaha mouthpiece as an addition with mine and have used it for a few months, even played it professionally in a few theatre shows and love the tone. I would recommend this excellent instrument to anyone with no hesitation!
I bought this saxophone about a week ago when was on discount and i can see that it still is. When I saw this offer there was no way I could pass up buying. It is simply outstanding. All registers are clear, exceptionally vibrant and responsive in the higher and lower registers and mechanically effortless. I also carefully evaluated the intonation with a tuner and was very satisfied with the consistency of pitch throughout. I own several professional model saxophones and dare to say... I enjoy playing this one as much as any of the others! As a public school music teacher/administrator for over 45 years and a private sax and clarinet teacher for the same amount of time who has purchased or recommended for purchase thousands of instruments, I believe this sax stand tall regardless of the price. I have never done a personal endorsement for a particular brand of instrument in the past but am happy to do so for this high quality instrument.
